Sewing Pottery is the creation of a vase made from fabric-covered coiled cotton clothesline.

Students will learn how to use fabric and clothesline to create a vase or bowl.
• Preparing of and mechanics for covering cotton clothesline with fabric strips
• How to start a base of bowl/vase, and create sides of the vase.
• How to create top or lip of vase
• How to assemble pieces of the vase together
• Embellishment options
Supply list
• Sewing machine that will do a zig-zag stitch. Featherweights will not work for this technique
• Open toe foot / open toe appliqué foot
• Jeans/denim needle, size 100
• Thread to match fabric
• Extra bobbins
• Straight pins
• Clothesline / Rope. MUST be 100% cotton with no plastic center (a plastic core will break needles on your machine)
• Fabric strips cut approximately 3/4 inch wide (can be wider depending on the desired look)
• Washable school glue stick (the purple kind)
• Optional: Yarn for embellishment
